The
Discovery Channel TX2000
Weathertech
Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
|
|
The Discovery Channel TX2000 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
displays both
the indoor temperature and, as received from the included remote sensor,
the outdoor temperature. Maximum range of the remote
sensor is 330 feet, and the main unit can accommodate up to 3 sensors.
In addition, the TX2000 also includes an incredibly accurate
radio-controlled ("atomic") clock with daily alarm, snooze
function, and numeric calendar display. The main unit can be mounted on a wall
or placed on a shelf, table, or desk.

|

|
The TX2000
Weathertech is dark blue in color. Its 4-line LCD display indicates the indoor
temperature, outdoor temperature, current time plus the
month, date, and weekday and a time-signal reception icon. Fairly
compact in size, the main unit is 7-3/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide
by 1 inch deep, not including the included detachable stand that
allows for placement on a shelf, table, or desk. |

The TX2000 weather
station monitors and displays the temperature both indoors
and in up to 3 remote/outdoor locations by means of the
included remote sensor and 1 or 2 additional remote
sensors, which are optional and sold separately.
Temperatures can be displayed in either °F or °C
(pushbutton-selectable during setup).
The weather
station records minimum and maximum indoor and
outdoor/remote temperatures as well as the time and date
of their occurence, and
these can be displayed at the push of a button. One remote
temperature sensor is included with the TX2000, and the station accepts up to three. Additional
sensors are sold separately as model number TX6U. The remote
sensor included with the TX2000 can transmit up to 330
feet without outside interference, i.e., in an open area.
The TX2000 weather station features an incredibly accurate
radio-controlled clock with month, date, and weekday
numeric calendar display and a daily alarm with an available
10-minute snooze function. A SNOOZE/LIGHT button on
the station's right side lights the display's backlight
and, after the alarm has initially gone off, also provides
the 5-minute snooze alarm.
Radio-controlled
clocks such as that in the TX2000 keep perfect time by
calibrating themselves to 60kHz low-frequency AM radio
signals containing time information supplied by the
official U.S. atomic clock source in Boulder, Colorado.
The radio signals are transmitted from radio station WWVB,
which is located in nearby Fort Collins. Both the atomic
clock source and WWVB are operated by the National
Institute of Standards and Technology, or NIST (a part of
the U.S. Commerce Department).
A search for
the time signal begins automatically after you insert the
batteries first in the main unit and then in the remote
and the remote registers with the main unit.
Synchronization with the time signal normally takes place
within 24 hours, at which time the
tower icon appears on the upper left of the display. You can then push a button to select your
correct mainland U.S. time zone (Pacific, Mountain,
Central, or Eastern).
The station's
atomic clock is factory-optioned to adjust twice a year
for Daylight Saving Time, but if you live in a location
(Indiana or Arizona) where DST is not observed, you can
easily disable the DST changes by pressing a button. The
station's calendar display will automatically display the
correct day and date through the year 2050.
If you take
the station out of range of the U.S. atomic clock time signal, you can set the time and date manually. If you
are within range of the time signal and wish to manually
initiate a signal search, this can be done via pushbutton.
During a signal search, the tower base icon flashes until
the signal is received.
Operating
temperature range of the station main unit is 14.2° to
139.8°F (-9.9° to +59.9°C). Operating temperature range of the remote
sensors is -21.8° to +157.8°F (-29.9° to +69.9°C).
Batteries are
not included with this weather station and must be
obtained separately. The main unit and remote both use 2 AA (1.5V)
alkaline cells. If a remote will be used in sub-freezing
temperatures for an extended time period, AA lithium
batteries are recommended instead of alkaline. Lithium
batteries retain their power down to about -40°F
(-40°C). The main unit
displays a low-battery indication when its batteries
become weak.
If you're
looking for a medium-small weather station with multiple
remote capability and an clock that's totally accurate
(with daily snooze alarm and numeric calendar display), the
The Discovery Channel TX2000 is a great choice. Neither
too large nor too small, the TX2000 Wireless Weather and
Atomic Clock Station is perfect for any room in the
house--or your office. It comes with a 1-year factory
warranty.

Note:
This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or Radio Controlled clocks receive
a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver however, they may not
be able to receive the signal if they are in a building with a lot of steel in
the structure, near computers or other electrical equipment that may generate
interference, or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not
propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock.
These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the
middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for
days until they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries,
they will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's
normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less than
ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may
not be made the first night if location and weather are not favorable.

We can handle large orders
for nearly anything we have by special order, and quantity
discounts are available.
For quantities of 10 or more, or if you want more than we have in stock, please
email us at sales@partshelf.com,
we'll get back to you with price and availability. We cannot do this over
the phone as it takes time to investigate each situation.
If there is no order button, most likely there are
availability problems. We expect to be out of stock for more than a few days.
If the shopping cart page indicates that there are no units available, then we are temporarily out of stock. The item should be available in a day or two. To avoid disappointment, our
inventory control system prevents us from taking an order for something we don't have on the shelf.
