Timex Reef Gear watches are part of the Timex Outdoor watch line. Within this line are several groups, or families, of watches, each with a specific feature complement. As you might expect, the features of this watch, the Timex Reef Gear H2Y241 Chrono Alarm Timer, are optimized for participants in and viewers of outdoor and water sports. The H2Y241 is a midsize digital watch (case is just under 1.5 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall) with unisex styling that makes it ideal for both men and women.

The H2Y241's plastic case is brown plastic with a dark silver (almost titanium) plastic front bezel and a stainless steel back. The Fast Wrap^® strap is black fabric, with red embroidered TIMEX logos where the strap meets the watch and red stitching. Fast Wrap straps fasten quickly and easily with a Velcro-type closure. On the sides of the case are four polished silver-tone pushbuttons that control all of the watch's functions. The one at the 10 o'clock position lights the bright blue INDIGLO^® electro-luminescent backlight. The styling of the H2Y241 is sporty and outdoorsy, and since this watch is midsize, it's both comfortable and lightweight on your wrist.

The H2Y241's INDIGLO backlight has an available Night-Mode^® feature. Normally, you light the backlight for 3 seconds by pressing the INDIGLO button. With the Night-Mode feature active, however, pressing any button (regardless of mode or function) lights the backlight for 3 seconds. Once activated, the Night-Mode feature remains active for 8 hours unless it is manually deactivated prior to that time.
Not only does the H2Y241 have an INDIGLO backlight for nighttime viewing, it also has an All Day INDIGLO display. If you look at the H2Y241's LCD panel at an angle, the background appears to be almost an olive green color. However, when you angle the watch face toward light as you view it, the LCD panel background becomes an iridescent shiny bright green that almost seems to be luminescent. Compared to a conventional LCD panel, the All Day INDIGLO display provides significantly easier viewing, with noticeably greater contrast between the displayed information and the background.
Timex has long been noted for offering products of high quality and durability at very affordable prices. The H2Y241 Reef Gear digital sports watch is no exception. You get a tough watch with lots of useful features, and for not a lot of money. Please read the "Important" note below, and then check out the complete Features and Functions list that follows. We think you'll find this watch hard to beat at its price.
Important: I tried this watch on, and I'd say that it will comfortably fit wrist sizes up to just over 7 inches.

Real time calendar clock:

Time format is selectable for 12-hour or 24-hour.

Time is displayed as hour, minutes, and seconds either in 12-hour format with AM or PM or in 24-hour format.

Calendar information is displayed as MM:DD date format with weekday abbreviation.

Dual time with date for a second time zone.

Daily alarm sounds for 20 seconds or until silenced.

Available hourly chime.

Bright blue INDIGLO electro-luminescent backlight with available Night-Mode feature (any button press lights the backlight for 3 seconds).

Easy-to-read All Day INDIGLO display: Background becomes iridescent green and display offers greater contrast when watch face is angled toward light for viewing.

100-hour chronograph:

99-lap counter.

Lap or split times can be shown.

100-hour countdown timer.
Water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet) if buttons are not pushed when submerged.
Powered by one CR1620 battery. Expected battery life is 2.5 years under normal operating conditions (e.g., no excessive backlight use, etc.).
Black fabric Fast Wrap strap with red embroidered TIMEX logos, red stitching, and black Velcro-type closure.
