The Timex Triathlon 8-Lap H2Y032 Digital Sports Watch is a very colorful member of the highly regarded Timex Sports line of watches. As you might expect, the features of the H2Y032 are optimized for participants in and viewers of outdoor sports, including (but certainly not limited to) triathlons. The H2Y032 is a full-size digital sports watch, but at 1-1/2 inches in width, it's actually at the small end of full-size. We know that some women prefer a sports watch that's larger that midsize, and because of the H2Y032's bright colors and unisex styling, we think that the this watch might appeal to those women as well to men.

The front of the H2Y032's case is titanium gray plastic, and the sides are a vivid purple. The case back is stainless steel. The strap is long-wearing black polyurethane in two-tone bright orange and black. On the side of the case at about the 2 o'clock position is a black pushbutton that lights the bright blue INDIGLO^® electro-luminescent backlight. Two more black pushbuttons on the sides of the case and two pushbuttons under a single black rubber cover below the LCD panel control all of the watch's other functions. Because the H2Y032 is not oversized, you'll find it to be both comfortable and lightweight on your wrist.

The H2Y032's INDIGLO backlight has an available Night-Mode^® feature. Normally, you light the backlight for 3 seconds by momentarily pressing the INDIGLO button. With the Night-Mode feature active, however, pressing any button (regardless of mode or function) lights the backlight for 3 seconds. To turn the Night-Mode feature on, you hold the INDIGLO button depressed for 3 seconds, at which time you hear a beep. While some Timex watches automatically turn the Night-Mode feature off after a specified number of hours, this watch requires manual deactivation of the feature. To turn the Night-Mode feature off, you simply hold the INDIGLO button depressed again for 3 seconds until you hear the beep.
Not only does the H2Y032 have an INDIGLO backlight for nighttime viewing, it also has an All Day INDIGLO display. If you look at the H2Y032 's LCD panel at an angle, the background appears to be an olive-gray color. However, when you angle the watch face toward light as you view it, the LCD panel background becomes an iridescent shiny bright green that almost seems to be luminescent. Compared to a conventional LCD panel, the All Day INDIGLO display provides significantly easier viewing, with noticeably greater contrast between the displayed information and the background.
For extra security, the tip of the strap that goes under the keeper is thicker than the rest of the strap. With this arrangement, once the strap tip passes under the keeper, it is held in place until you lift the keeper slightly to unbuckle the strap.
Timex has long been noted for offering products of high quality and durability at very affordable prices. The H2Y032 Triathlon digital sports watch is no exception. You get a tough watch with lots of useful features, and for not a lot of money. Please read the note below, and then check out the complete Features and Functions list that follows. Note: This watch fits wrist sizes from about 6 to just over 8 inches. The strap has 9 holes for the buckle. My wrists are just over 7 inches around, and when I tried the watch on, I used the fifth hole out from the watch body.

Real time calendar clock:

Time format is selectable for 12-hour or 24-hour.

Time is displayed as hour, minutes, and seconds with A for a.m. in 12-hour format.

Calendar information is displayed as MM:DD date format with weekday abbreviation.

Daily alarm that sounds for 20 seconds or until silenced.

Available hourly time signal.

Bright blue INDIGLO electro-luminescent backlight with available Night-Mode feature (any button press lights the backlight for 3 seconds).

Easy-to-read All Day INDIGLO display: LCD panel background becomes iridescent green and display offers greater contrast when watch face is angled toward light for viewing.

16-hour chronograph (stopwatch or count-up timer):

99-lap counter.

Lap times and split times can be displayed.

8-lap/split memory recall (lap times for each of the last 8 laps/splits can be displayed).

10-hour countdown timer that can be optioned to stop, to repeat, or to begin chrono (stopwatch or count-up) timing when the countdown reaches 0.
Water-resistant to 50 meters (165 feet) if buttons are not pushed when submerged.
Powered by one CR2016 battery. Expected battery life is 3.5 years under normal operating conditions (e.g., no excessive backlight use, etc.).
Durable polyurethane band.
