Taylor
Precision 9306
Commercial Waterproof Dual Temperature
Infrared/Thermocouple Thermometer |
|
The Taylor 9306 Infrared/Thermocouple Thermometer is part of Taylor's
Five-Star Commercial line of kitchen products, which are designed
for accuracy, readability, and reliability. The 9306 combines two
types of thermometers in a single compact instrument. One is a non-contact
infrared thermometer, and the other is a rapid-response thermocouple probe
thermometer that folds out for use. You can use only one thermometer mode at a time, but you
can change the mode whenever you want. This high-quality,
professional-grade thermometer is designed for commercial use (such as
food service applications), and you'll find it ideal for home use as well.
|
|
|
|
The Taylor 9306
is easy, even fun, to
use. Activate the
infrared thermometer to measure surface temperatures, and fold out
the probe to measure internal food temperatures and the
temperatures of of liquids. A padded carrying case
and two preinstalled AAA batteries are included.
| |
|
|
When you use the
infrared thermometer in the 9306, the temperature is displayed in the upper line of
the two-line LCD panel. When you use the thermocouple probe thermometer, the temperature is displayed in the lower line.
Features of the 9306 include Minimum and Maximum display modes and a Lock
mode for the infrared thermometer and a warning light system for food temperatures.
The infrared thermometer also has an
automatic white light targeting feature to helps you accurately aim the
9306 at the desired object (the target surface). Infrared
Thermometer
The 9306's infrared
thermometer has a temperature measuring range of
-67°F
to +482°F or -55°C to
+250°C. In addition to the temperature, the
display for the infrared thermometer shows measurement
Scan and Hold indications and a battery icon (OK, low, or
exhausted). To use the infrared thermometer in the normal
measurement mode, you simply aim the infrared lens at the
target to be measured and press the Scan button. You can hold the Scan
button depressed to measure more than one target in an
area, in which case the reading goes up or down if the
target temperature varies. The last infrared temperature
measurement remains displayed for 15 seconds, after which
the 9306 automatically powers itself down. The
infrared thermometer also has available Minimum, Maximum,
and Lock modes. In the Minimum mode, holding the Scan
button depressed as you aim the 9306 at multiple targets
causes the displayed temperature to change downward only
when a target temperature lower than the previous low
target temperature is detected. In the Maximum mode,
holding the Scan button depressed as you aim the 9306 at a
number of targets causes the displayed temperature to
change upward only when a target temperature higher than
the previous high target temperature is detected. The Lock
mode is particularly useful for continuous temperature
monitoring. In this mode, the 9306 continuously displays
the temperature for 60 minutes or until the Scan button is
pressed.
Here
are some things you should know when using the infrared
thermometer in the 9306:
-
To
get a correct temperature reading, you must make sure
that the detection area to be measured is larger than
the required spot size of the infrared beam. The
temperature indicated on the 9306 is an average
temperature for the detected area. The smaller the
target, the shorter the required distance for
measuring is. The 9306's distance-to-spot (D/S) ratio
is 2.5 to 1. Thus, at a measuring distance of 5 inches,
for example, the spot size is 2 inches. A diagram on
the front of the 9306 helps you to determine what the
spot size will be over a range of distances.
-
The 9306's
infrared thermometer is factory-set for an emission factor (or
emissivity) of
0.95. On this thermometer, the emission factor
is user-adjustable over a range from 0.10 to 1.00. Most
surfaces have an emission factor of 0.8 to 0.98 (the darker
and less reflective the surface, the greater the emission
factor). Please be aware that infrared thermometers are not
suitable for measuring the temperature of polished metals,
which have a very low emission factor. Affixing adhesive tape
to polished metals, or painting them, increases the emission
factor and reduces the inaccuracy of the measurement. Also,
infrared thermometers cannot be used to measure the
temperature of transparent objects or air temperature.
Thermocouple Probe
Thermometer The
thermocouple probe
thermometer in the 9306 has a temperature measuring range of
-67°F
to +626°F or -55°C to
+330°C. To use the probe thermometer, you fold
the probe completely out, insert it into the food or
liquid to be measured, and then press the Probe button.
After the probe thermometer's temperature reading
stabilizes, you can press the Probe button again to
display the last temperature along with a HOLD icon.
Pressing the Probe button again takes the thermometer off
of HOLD and returns it to "scanning"
functionality. In the probe thermometer mode, the 9306
powers itself down after 15 seconds of inactivity or 4 minutes of
use. Additional
Information The
9306 has a useful HACCP Check feature that indicates
critical food temperature zones. HAACP stands for Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Point, and the USDA's HACCP
laboratory testing programs help ensure the safety of our meat, poultry,
and egg products supply. The HACCP Check feature consists of icons and
LEDs plus an HACCP
temperature zone reference table. A lighted green LED above the snowflake icon
indicates a safe cool or frozen condition below 40°F
or 4°C. A lighted green LED above the steaming cup icon
indicates a safe holding temperature above 140°F or
60°C. A lighted red LED above the slashed circle and fork
icon indicates that the temperature is within the
HACCP danger zone of 40°F to 140°F or 4°C to 60°C. Under
certain conditions, the 9306 displays visual diagnostic
messages. If a temperature being measured is outside of
the range of the 9306, the display indicates either Hi or
Lo. If the ambient temperature is rapidly changing or is
outside of the 9306's operating range, or if other error
conditions occur, error (Er) messages appear in the
display. The instructions explain what to do in case of an
error message. The 9306 also displays one of three icons
that indicate the battery condition. Battery OK
(measurements are possible), Battery Low (measurements are
possible), or Battery Exhausted (measurements are not
possible).
Although the 9306 is
designed primarily for cooking and food service
applications, it is certainly not limited to these uses.
An infrared thermometer such as the one in the 9306 is great for
hard-to-reach and inaccessible locations,
so long as temperatures in those locations are within its
measuring range.
In
addition to operating instructions and the preinstalled
AAA batteries, the Taylor 9306 Waterproof Dual
Temperature Infrared/Thermocouple Thermometer comes with a padded vinyl
carrying case for transportation and storage.
This product is covered by a Taylor 1-year limited
warranty.
