Big Digit Kitchen / Cooking Timer

The Taylor 5806 Classic Big Digit Kitchen / Cooking Timer is a small digital timer with a big, bold display. The 5806 counts up to or down from 99 minutes 59 seconds for use in kitchen, lab, laundry, darkroom, or wherever. The minutes and seconds digits are over 0.6 inch tall for easy reading.

Just 2-1/2 inches wide by 2-1/8 inches high, the Taylor 5806 Big Digit Timer is white with a silver-tone bezel around the display and three gray control pushbuttons. Most folks should have no trouble at all reading the 4-digit display because the numbers are bold and about 5/8 inch tall.

The 5806 counts down or up in 1-second increments. When you use the 5806 as a countdown timer (for example, when cooking), you can temporarily stop and then restart the timer by pressing the START/STOP button. When the countdown reaches zero and the timer beeps, pressing START/STOP to stop the beeping also recalls the last set time, which appears in the display. When the timer is operating, an up or down arrow in the display indicates whether count-up or countdown timing is in effect.
On the back of the 5806 timer is a 3-way holder. When the holder is used as a spring clip, you can attach the timer to, for example, a shirt pocket, waistband, or apron. You can also flip out a metal bar to extend the clip, which lets you stand the timer at an angle on a flat surface. On the back of the clip itself is a magnet that can hold the timer to an iron or steel surface, such as a range hood or refrigerator door.

Here are a few things you might want to know: To reset this timer, you press the minutes (M) and seconds (S) buttons simultaneously. The front of the 5806's package indicates "0.7" LCD Readout." This is the height of the LCD panel itself, not the digits in it. Also, the package indicates "Clock Feature." This is apparently a misprint because this particular timer has no clock. It only counts up and down.

The simple styling and neutral colors of the Taylor 5806 timer will fit in with almost any kitchen decor. The timer runs on one AAA (1.5V) battery, which is included and preinstalled. All you need to do to power up the 5806 is remove the battery compartment cover, remove the insulating strip that prevents battery drain during shipping, and then replace the cover. The 5806 is covered by a Taylor 1-year limited warranty.
