1465
Micro Digital Weather System |
|
For a weather
forecast station, the Taylor 1465 Micro Digital Weather System
is extremely small, but
it provides plenty of valuable information in its three round LCD windows.
In the left window, an animated weather forecast icon always appears.
In the center and right windows, you can display indoor
humidity and indoor temperature, outdoor temperature and indoor
temperature, or clock hour and clock minutes. The 1465 also features a
minimum/maximum memory for both temperatures and indoor
humidity. The outdoor temperature is measured and reported by a
weather-resistant probe on a 9-foot cord. You can select °F or °C for
the temperature unit and 12-hour or 24-hour for the time format. The 1465
is designed for free-standing use only.

The Taylor 1465 Micro Digital Weather System has a silver-tone case front and a light gray case back. In the LCD window on the
left, the 1465 constantly displays an
animated 12-hour weather forecast. In the center and right
LCD windows are displayed your choice of indoor humidity and
temperature, outdoor and indoor temperature, or clock hour and
clock minutes. The 1465 has a min/max memory for the two
temperatures and the indoor humidity. Fold out the
integral stand and place this forecast station on a shelf, table, or desk.
It's small enough to fit almost anywhere.

The LCD windows on the 1465 digital forecast
station are 1 inch in diameter. The temperature, humidity, and time digits
in them are
bold and 7/16 inches tall (degree tenths
are smaller at about 3/16 inch).
The 1465 predicts
the weather 12 hours in advance based on barometric pressure changes. One
of four animated forecast icons is displayed: Sunny, Partly Sunny, Cloudy,
or Rainy. What's really cool about these icons (in addition to the
animation) is that the sun in the Sunny and Partly Sunny icons changes to
a crescent moon during nighttime hours (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.), and the
raindrops in the Rainy icon change to snowflakes when the outdoor
temperature is at or below freezing and snowy or icy conditions may
develop.
The 1465 monitors
and displays the indoor temperature and relative humidity and, as
measured and reported by the wired probe, the outdoor temperature. As
mentioned above, your display choices for these values are indoor humidity
and temperature or outdoor and indoor temperature.
The indoor humidity is displayed in %, and temperatures can be displayed
in either °F or °C, as selected during setup. You'll find setup to
be quite easy because you use only two control pushbuttons (MODE and SET)
to set all time and temperature parameters. By the way, the 1465 has a
total of three control pushbuttons, and these are located on the back.
Indoor temperature measuring range of the
1465 is +23°F to +122°F (-5°C to +50°C), and outdoor temperature
measuring range is -58°F to +158°F (-50°C to +70°C). The integral memory in the
1465 records
maximum and minimum indoor temperature and humidity values plus maximum
and minimum outdoor temperature values for all remotes in use These values
can be displayed for 5 seconds during normal operation by momentarily
depressing the MAX/MIN button. Minimum and
maximum temperatures and humidity are stored and updated until the memory
is reset. On the 1465, you reset the memory by removing the battery.
You'll then need to perform station setup again, but because it's so easy,
this should be no problem at all.
The clock in the 1465 is a
digital quartz clock (not atomic, but still highly accurate). The time can
be displayed in 12-hour format with PM or in 24-hour format. The clock has
a single daily alarm, and a bell icon appears below clock minutes when the
alarm is activated.
The 1465 is powered by one AAA (1.5V) alkaline
battery. This is not included and must be obtained separately.
On the back of the 1465 is an integral folding stand.
Extend it, and then place the 1465 on a table, desk, shelf, or other
horizontal surface near a window out from which you can extend the probe.
Be sure to route the probe's cord properly and close the window carefully
so that the cord will not be damaged or severed.
At a little over 4 inches wide by under 2
inches high, the Taylor 1465 Micro Digital Weather System is the smallest
weather forecast station we have seen to date. It's also very reasonably
priced, and yet it has animated
forecast icons that change with the time of day and the outdoor
temperature. Some larger and more expensive forecast stations don't
have icons as sophisticated as these! Plus, the 1465 has a temperature and humidity memory and an
integral alarm clock. This product comes with a
Taylor 1-year limited warranty.
