Digital Wireless Remote Temperature Sensor

The Taylor 1457 is a replacement or additional wireless remote temperature sensor for Taylor weather station models 1453, 1456, 1461, 1462 and 1463. This sensor monitors the temperature at an outdoor or other remote location, displays it in locally its own LCD panel, and transmits it to an associated Taylor main unit for display at that location. The 1457 features a slim, contoured profile and can wall-mounted or free-standing.

The Taylor 1457 Digital Wireless Remote Temperature Sensor features the sleek styling and silver color of Taylor's latest line of weather products. Compact in size, the 1457 remote is 3-1/4 inches wide by 3-1/4 inches high by 1 inch deep.

On the 1457 remote, temperatures are displayed locally in numbers 3/8 inch tall (tenths of a degree are about half that size). Temperatures can be displayed in either °F or °C, as selected by a pushbutton in the battery compartment on the back of the case.
Outdoor/remote temperature measuring range is -4°F to +140°F (-20° to +60°C). Using lithium batteries in the 1457 extends its low temperature measuring limit to -40°F (-40°C). With the probe attached, the 1457's low temperature measuring limit is further extended to -58°F (-50°C).

The 1457 comes with a temperature probe on a detachable 11-foot (3.3-meter) cable. The probe is ideal for measuring the temperature in a swimming pool, hot tub, or aquarium and also in soil. Another use for the probe is in extremely cold conditions, in which case you bring the remote inside and extend the probe outside (by hanging it out of a window, for example). The 1457 should be mounted in a sheltered location where direct precipitation cannot fall on it. Although this remote is splash-resistant (the package says "weatherproof"), it is not waterproof.

Maximum transmission range of the 1457 is 100 feet (30 meters) in an open area with no interference.

The 1457 remote is powered by two AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries. These are not included and must be obtained separately. Expected battery life is 1 year. If the 1457 remote will be used in sub-freezing temperatures, lithium AA batteries are recommended instead of alkaline.

On the back of the 1457 are a keyhole slot for wall mounting and an integral folding table stand. A wall anchor and wall-mounting screw are included. This product comes with a 1-year factory warranty.
