12" Outdoor Dial ThermoHygrometer

From Taylor's vintage collection comes the Taylor 497J Humidiguide. The 497J is a 12" analog dial-type thermo-hygrometer that is well suited for outdoor locations. This thermometer indicates temperatures between -60°F to +120°F (-50°C to +50°C) and indicates humidity within the range of 30% to 90%. The 497J has sturdy all-metal construction and a large, easy-to-read face with black and red dial art, as well as a red pointer.

The Taylor 497J has a brushed silver-tone metal case and a convex acrylic lens that resists yellowing. The dial is white with fade-resistant black temperature numbers and graphic markers. The big, bold thermometer dial pointer is red, as is the humidity dial pointer.

The Taylor 497J thermometer has both Fahrenheit and Celsius scales. The Fahrenheit scale ranges from -60°F to +120°F, and the Celsius scale ranges from -50°C to +50°C. The Fahrenheit scale has numbers 1-1/2 inches tall at 20° intervals and graphic markers at 2° intervals. The Celsius scale has numbers 1/4 inches tall at 10° intervals and graphic markers at 1° intervals. The humidity scale ranges from 30% to 90% with 3/4 inch numbers.

For mounting, the Taylor 497J requires two nails or screws, which are not included and must be obtained separately. The thermometer is easy to mount, and clear instructions for doing this are provided with the product.

The Taylor 497J Jumbo Dial Thermometer is designed for easy reading in large rooms and workspaces. It can also be used outdoors as, for example, a poolside, patio, porch, or garden thermometer. Even though the Taylor 497J is weather resistant, for correct temperature readings it should be mounted where it is sheltered from direct or reflected sunlight and other heat sources. If this is done, the thermometer should be accurate to +/-2°F. Taylor has informed us that the 497J is water resistant, so normal precipitation shouldn't affect it.
