Springfield Precision 91746 Wireless Soil Moisture Monitor w/ Freeze Alert The Springfield Precision 91746 Wireless Soil Moisture Monitor is a two-piece set that includes both a wireless outdoor soil probe and main indoor unit that features a large easy-to-read display. The indoor main unit receives data from the remote sensor and even records minimum and maximum outdoor temperatures. The outdoor remote sensor detects soil wetness level data via its steel probe, and ambient outdoor temperature is detected with a second integral sensor. The purpose of knowing the air temperature rather than soil temperature is to forewarn you against frozen temperatures. The Springfield 91746's "Freeze Alert" function alerts you of frozen temperatures, giving you time to take appropriate action. This is perfect for use in gardens, green houses, lawns, and flower beds, and would make an excellent gift for any gardening enthusiast. The Springfield 91746 main unit is modernly designed and has a white finish. The main unit is compact in size, and measures 2-3/4 inches wide by 3 inches tall. The bold display digits are easily viewable from a distance, measuring nearly 1/2 of an inch tall. at Both the upper and lower LCD panels measure 4 inches wide by 1-7/8 inches high. The outdoor remote sensor is relatively large, measuring 7-3/4 inches tall overall, while the steel probe alone measures just under 2 inches tall.
