Cason C29B Digital Alarm Clock with Calendar and Indoor Temperature

The C29B Multifunction Digital Alarm Clock from Cason Electronics is small enough to fit in a reasonably sized pocket, and yet it has a surprisingly large 3-line LCD display. The top line shows the time in bold digits just over 3/4 inch high. The second line shows the month, date, and weekday in digits almost 1/2 inch high. The third line shows the indoor temperature in bold digits over 1/2 inch high (tenths of a degree and °F for Fahrenheit or °C for Celsius are smaller).

The Cason C29B digital alarm clock is only 4-3/8 inches tall and very modest in price. Yet its 3-line LCD display is large for easy reading, and it has a momentary backlight. Displayed information includes hour and minutes; month, date, and weekday; and indoor temperature. The daily alarm has a 5-minute snooze function.

This clock features a highly accurate quartz movement (not atomic) and displays not only the time but also calendar information. The time is displayed digitally, and you can choose either 12-hour or 24-hour mode. The month and date are also displayed digitally, while the weekday is displayed as a 3-letter abbreviation. You can select any of 5 languages for the weekday abbreviation: English, German, French, Spanish, or Italian.

The clock's alarm is a single daily alarm with a 5-minute snooze function. A bell icon above in the top line of the LCD display appears when the alarm is set (on). Pressing the SNOOZE./LIGHT button on the top of the clock when the alarm is not set (off), or when the alarm is set but has not yet sounded, lights the clock display's LED backlight for 3 seconds.

The indoor temperature can be displayed in °F or °C. While the time mode and weekday-abbreviation language are selected during clock setup, the temperature display can be changed from °F to °C and back again during normal operation simply by pressing a front-panel button.

On the back of the clock is a RESET button that is used during battery replacement to restore the default display so that you can perform clock setup again. This button can also be used if the clock malfunctions--for example, if the display becomes incorrect from exposure to a strong electrostatic field and needs to be reset. We have found that, at least sometimes, if you remove and quickly replace one battery and then the other (rather than initially removing both), the clock retains its settings for several seconds and thus does not need to be reset.

One other thing about the RESET button: If you want to change the language of the weekday abbreviation, you must set the switch on the back of the clock to the desired language before you press the RESET button.

The Cason C29B digital alarm clock is silver in color with silver control buttons on the front panel and top. Small enough for travel use, this multifunctional clock offers a lot of nice features at a very nice price.
