Seiko SGEA39 Coutura Men's Watch

Men's Analog Wristwatch with Date, Cabochon Crown, Sapphire Crystal, 100M Water Resistance, Stainless Steel Case and Band

The Seiko SGEA39 Coutura Men's Watch is part of Seiko's stylish Coutura^TM line of timepieces. Seiko describes its men's and women's Coutura watches as distinctive, elegant, contemporary, and refined. This men's watch has a silver-tone case and band and, like all Coutura watches, a cabochon (rounded gemstone) crown.

Even though the styling of the SGEA39 Men's Coutura Watch is more elegant than sporting, this doesn't mean the watch isn't tough. The case and band are silver-tone stainless steel. The polished non-rotating bezel is secured by real screws (not cast-in fakes). Except for polished center portions where case meets band, the top of the case front has a brushed finish, and the sides are polished. The watchband has brushed and polished sections to match the case. This link-type band has a three-fold pushbutton safety clasp. The polished silver-tone crown is adorned with a violet-blue cabochon that we think might be synthetic sapphire. We know for a fact that the flat crystal is synthetic sapphire and virtually scratchproof. Like the case front and band, the case back is stainless steel.

The dial on the SGEA39 Coutura is white with polished silver-tone hour markers at all positions except 3 o'clock, where a window shows the date in black on white. The hour markers are Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12 and graphic elsewhere. The hour, minute, and second hands are polished silver-tone with luminous white pointer centers for night viewing. On the angled perimeter of the dial, just outside of the silver-tone hour markers and date window, are 12 small circular hour markers that are luminous like the hands. Seiko's term for these is LumiBrite^® hands and markers. Between the luminous hour markers are tiny black graphic minute/second markers.
The SGEA39 has a 3-position crown for adjusting the time and date. A three-position crown lets you initially set the time and date much more quickly than would be the case if the two settings were not independent, and it's also handy when you need to set the date to 1 at the end of months with fewer than 31 days. The SGEA39 is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet) as long as the crown is not pulled out under water.
This watch comes with a bilingual (English and Spanish) instruction manual that includes care and maintenance instructions and complete information on the 3-year limited warranty.
Expected battery life for this watch is about 3 years. When the battery gets low, the second hand moves at 2-second intervals instead of 1-second to let you know that replacement is needed.
Except for the curved-edge links nearest the case, the links in the SGEA39's band are removable for resizing. If this is needed, we recommend that you have it done by a professional with the proper tools and experience.
Definitely sized for men, the Coutura SGEA39 is 39 mm (about 1.5 inches) in diameter by 9 mm (about 0.35 inch) thick. This is a masculine and ruggedly built watch that can be worn with confidence on both casual and dressy occasions.

Note: This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or Radio Controlled clocks receive a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver however, they may not be able to receive the signal if they are in a building with a lot of steel in the structure, near computers or other electrical equipment that may generate interference, or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock. These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for days until they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries, they will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less than ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may not be made the first night if location and weather are not favorable.
