Casio G-Shock Wave Ceptor Tough Solar GW500AJP-1V Atomic Watch

Like all G-Shock watches, The GW500AJP-1V offers shock protection and water resistance that far exceeds most--perhaps all--other atomic wrist watches. In addition, the GW500JP-1V is solar powered, so battery replacement should never be needed, and atomic, it sets itself to the absolutely accurate U.S. time standard in Colorado. Other features include world time, stopwatch, time recorder, and alarms.

The GW500AJP-1V has a tough resin case with bright metal trim, a stainless steel back, and a durable, waterproof black resin band.
In time keeping mode, the center line of the display shows hours and minutes (12 or 24 hour mode) and seconds. Below is month and day, plus day of the week.
In world time mode, the current time can be displayed for 29 different time zones. Also displayed is an abbreviation for one of 30 cities corresponding to the time zones.

You can set up to 5 independent daily alarms with hour, and minute. When an alarm is turned on, the alarm tone sounds when the alarm time is reached. One of the alarms is a snooze alarm, while the other 4 are daily alarms.

In stopwatch mode, you can measure elapsed time, split times, and two finishes. The range of the stopwatch is 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds to 1/100 of a second.

In time recorder mode, you can store up to 30 records of current time and date. The time recorder may be used to record the beginning, intermediate points, and end of an event.

The Electro-luminescent display backlight may be set to automatically light when your wrist is brought to viewing position.

Features and Functions

Atomic watch receives time calibration radio signals (WWVB, Fort Collins, Colorado, 60 kHz) that keep the displayed time accurate.
Time calibration signal reception:

Auto receive function (four times per day at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 a.m.).
Manual receive function.

Calendar system: Auto-calendar pre-programmed from year 2000 to 2099.
World time: 30 cities, 29 time zones, with daylight saving time on/off status individually selectable for each city code.
1/100 second stopwatch:

Measuring capacity: 23:59' 59.99".
Measuring modes: elapsed time, split/lap time, 1st-2nd place.

Time Recorder: memory for 30 records, each containing month, day, hours, minutes, and seconds, A for a.m. or P for p.m. in 12-hour mode, and standard time or DST.

5 daily alarms: 4 one-time, 1 snooze.
Hourly time signal.
12-hour or 24-hour time format.
Electro-luminescent backlight with afterglow and a user-selectable auto-light function (backlight automatically turns on when you angle the watch toward your face).
200-meter water resistant (if buttons are not pushed when submerged).
Three-level battery power indicator.
Signal strength indication for time signals.
Accuracy: ±15 seconds per month (with no signal calibration).
Powered by solar cell and rechargeable battery (CTL 1616 cobalt-titanium):
Average battery life is 6 months from full charge to Low (recharge needed) under normal operating conditions specified in user manual.

Note: This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or Radio Controlled clocks receive a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver however, they may not be able to receive the signal if they are in a building with a lot of steel in the structure, near computers or other electrical equipment that may generate interference, or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock. These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for days until they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries, they will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less than ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may not be made the first night if location and weather are not favorable.
