Acu-Rite
00973 Weather Station
Barometer, Forecaster & Moon Phase
Clock
|
|
The Acu-Rite 00973
is a sharp looking weather station and full featured atomic
moon phase alarm clock. The 00973 can serve equally well as
a home weather station, or as an executive desk clock. The
upper portion of the display of the 00973 provides weather
data, including indoor
and outdoor thermometer and hygrometer, weather forecast icon,
barometer, and barometric pressure bar graph history. The lower portion of the
display is an atomic clock display, featuring time, date, day of the
week, and moon phase.

| The Acu-Rite
00973 is black with silver buttons and trim around the
display. The 00973 may be hung on the wall, or using its
flip out supports, can stand upright on a desk, table, shelf or
mantel.

Upper Display. Indoor and outdoor temperature and
humidity are displayed in big, bold digits on the left side of the upper LCD
display, along with outdoor trend indicator arrows. Pressing the
"MIN/MAX" button will bring up the high and low indoor and
outdoor values for the last 24 hours (auto resetting). Up to three
wireless remotes (one is included) may be used to monitor conditions at
additional locations. The "CHANNEL" button is used to
select which remote is being displayed. The right side of the upper LCD panel contains the
remaining weather displays. At the top is the weather forecast icon:
Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Cloudy, or Rainy (which predicts snow in cold conditions).
If heavier storms are predicted, the Rainy icon flashes. The
pressure-based forecast is for the next 12 to 24 hours and is 70% to 75%
accurate. Below the forecast icon is the numeric barometric pressure. Here you can view the
current pressure or the pressure at 1 to 19 hours in the past. Below
this is a bar graph history display that indicates pressure changes for
0, 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12 hours in the past.
Lower Display. At the left of the lower
LCD panel is displayed moon phase, date, and day of the week. On
the right is clock time as hour and minutes in big, bold
digits and seconds in smaller digits. Above seconds is a tower and waves
icon that appears when the 00973's atomic clock successfully
synchronizes to the WWVB time signal. The clock time display area
doubles as an alarm time setting and display area. An alarm bell icon
indicates that the alarm is on.
Atomic Clock. The atomic clock in the
00973 sets itself automatically and can adjust
automatically for Daylight Saving Time (DST). This clock keeps perfect
time by calibrating itself to radio signals
containing time information transmitted by the official U.S. atomic clock
source in Boulder, Colorado.
 |
The 00973 comes with a wireless remote
temperature and humidity sensor. Additional sensors may be
purchased in order to monitor up to two additional
locations. The remote comes with a wired probe that may be
used for exceptionally cold outdoor temperatures. If the
outdoor temperature drops below -4 degrees for extended periods,
it is recommended that you mount the remote indoors, attach the
wired probe to the remote, and extend the wired probe out through
a door or window to measure outside temperature. |

Note:
The Acu-Rite 00973 weather station has
"atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or radio controlled,
clocks receive a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver,
however, they may not be able to receive the signal if they are in a
building with a lot of steel in the structure, near computers or other
electrical equipment that may generate interference, or if the weather is
unsuitable. The signal they receive does not propagate well during the
day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock. These clocks are
designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the middle of the
night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for days until
they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries, they
will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's
normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less
than ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Also, Daylight Saving
Time changes may not be made the first night if location and weather are
not favorable.

We can handle large orders
for nearly anything we have by special order, and quantity
discounts are available.
For quantities of 10 or more, or if you want more than we have in stock, please
email us at sales@partshelf.com,
we'll get back to you with price and availability. We cannot do this over
the phone as it takes time to investigate each situation.
If there is no order button, most likely there are
availability problems. We expect to be out of stock for more than a few days.
If the shopping cart page indicates that there are no units available, then we are temporarily out of stock. The item should be available in a day or two. To avoid disappointment, our
inventory control system prevents us from taking an order for something we don't have on the shelf.
