Oregon Scientific RMR606HGPA
Wireless
Thermo-Hygrometer & Atomic Projection Clock
|
With styling that's
quite a departure from earlier Oregon Scientific weather instruments, the
RMR606HGPA Wireless Thermo-Hygrometer and Atomic Projection Alarm Clock is
the result of extensive customer research. Oregon Scientific actually found that
many potential purchasers of high-tech time and weather instruments for home and
office prefer a "softer" look than what has been the norm. To achieve this,
designers gave the RMR606HGPA a front panel that's rounded at the top and
bottom, and neutral colors that go with almost anything.

New
"soft" styling makes the RMR606HGPA as handsome as it is functional.
This instrument displays the indoor temperature and humidity plus
remote/outdoor temperature and humidity from 1 to 3 locations up to 100
feet (30 meters) away. Also displayed are temperature and humidity
trends. Minimum and maximum temperature and humidity readings are stored
in memory for display at the push of a button. Rounding out the
RMR606HGPA's features is a radio-controlled "atomic" clock with alarm
and calendar. This clock projects the time on a wall or ceiling in
bright red numbers for night viewing. Also for night viewing, the LCD
panel has a bright blue electro-luminescent backlight with auto-off. |
The RMR606HGPA
thermo-hygrometer with atomic projection clock: is medium in size at about 6.6
inches wide by 3.7 inches tall. Its LCD panel is 3.75 inches wide by 1.75 inches
high and has a 2-line display. Hour and minute digits are about 7/8 inch tall,
and month and date are about 1/2 inch (weekday abbreviation is smaller).
Temperature and humidity are about 5/8 inch (tenths of a degree and °C or °F are
smaller). The LCD panel has a bright blue HiGloTM electro-luminescent
backlight for easy nighttime viewing.
Besides indicating
the time, date, day, temperature, and humidity on its LCD panel, the RMR606HGPA:
-
Stores maximum
and minimum temperatures--both indoor and for all remotes in use--until
reset. These can be displayed at the push of a button.
-
Displays
temperature and humidity trend indications (rising, steady, or falling) .
-
Projects the
time in bright red numbers on the wall or ceiling.
-
Has a single
daily alarm with an 8-minute snooze function.
For the RMR606HGPA's
temperature display, you can select either °C or °F. Relative humidity is
displayed in percent. Arrow icons indicate the trends (rising, steady, or
falling) for both temperature and humidity. Besides displaying current
temperature and humidity, the RMR606HGPA stores maximum and minimum temperature
and humidity readings--both indoor and for all remotes in use--since the last
memory reset. These are available at the push of a button.
One THGR122NX
wireless remote thermo-hygro sensor is included with the station, and the
RMR606HGPA can actually monitor up to three of these sensors. This particular
remote has its own LCD display that shows the temperature (in °F) and humidity
locally. Additional sensors can be obtained separately.
The RMR606HGPA's
atomic clock displays the time in 12-hour mode with AM and PM. After the clock
synchronizes to the WWVB 60 kHz time signal from the U.S. atomic clock in
Colorado, you can select your mainland U.S. time zone, which is displayed above
the weekday as P for Pacific, M for Mountain, C for Central, or E for Eastern.
The clock has two different time display modes:
-
Time as hour,
minutes, and seconds.
-
Time as hour,
minutes, and weekday, with the weekday abbreviation in your choice of
English, French, or Spanish.
The clock's daily
alarm sounds with a 2-minute crescendo pattern and has an available 8-minute
snooze function.
If you want
continuous time projection, you must power the RMR606HGPA from the included ac
adapter. Otherwise, the clock can be powered from batteries, in which case you
press the SNOOZE-LIGHT bar to turn on both the projected display and the LCD
panel's bright blue HiGlo™ electro-luminescent backlight for 5 seconds.
The RMR606HGPA's
projection arm tilts a full 180° so that the image can be projected not only
upward but also to the front or back as desired. Two knobs on the back of the
projection arm allow for additional image control. One knob lets you rotate the
image180° so that it can be right side up, upside down, or anywhere in between.
The second knob focuses the image for maximum sharpness.
The RMR606HGPA's
control pushbuttons (for clock mode, channel, alarm, and setup choices) are
located on the left side panel for easy access. The SNOOZE-LIGHT bar is on the
top of the case. The °C/ °F selection switch and the time zone, memory, and
reset pushbuttons are actually located in the battery compartment. The front of
the RMR606HGPA (including the projection unit) has a semi-metallic finish that's
champagne in color. The sides and back are a complementary gray-beige. (Oregon
Scientific calls the color "clam shell.")
The RMR606HGPA main
unit has an integral table stand for placement on a shelf, desk, table, or other
flat surface. The main unit cannot be wall-mounted. The THGR122NX remote sensor
can be wall-mounted, or you can install the included wire stand and place it on
a flat surface.
The main unit uses
two AA alkaline batteries, and the remote sensor uses two AAA alkaline
batteries. All batteries must be obtained separately. If the remote will be used
in sub-freezing conditions, lithium batteries (now available in AAA size) are
recommended instead of alkaline.
Please Note: This product
comes in a clear plastic blister pack that, once cut open, cannot be resealed.
Because opening a blister pack renders the enclosed product unfit for resale,
non-defective products whose blister packs have been opened are not returnable.
If you receive this product and it is not to your liking (for example, if its
appearance does not meet your expectations), please leave the blister pack
unopened and contact us for return instructions. Defective products, however,
can be returned for replacement. Again, please contact us for instructions.

Note:
This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or Radio Controlled clocks receive
a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver however, they may not
be able to receive the signal if they are in a building with a lot of steel in
the structure, near computers or other electrical equipment that may generate
interference, or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not
propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock.
These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the
middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for
days until they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries,
they will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's
normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less than
ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may
not be made the first night if location and weather are not favorable.
We can handle large orders
for nearly anything we have by special order, and quantity
discounts are available.
For quantities of 10 or more, or if you want more than we have in stock, please
email us at sales@partshelf.com,
we'll get back to you with price and availability. We cannot do this over
the phone as it takes time to investigate each situation.
If there is no order button, most likely there are
availability problems. We expect to be out of stock for more than a few days.
If the shopping cart page indicates that there are no units available, then we are temporarily out of stock. The item should be available in a day or two. To avoid disappointment, our
inventory control system prevents us from taking an order for something we don't have on the shelf.
