Oregon
Scientific RGR126 Wireless Rain Gauge with Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
and Rainfall Alarm
|
|
|
Monitor
daily and total rainfall (including 9-day rainfall history), indoor
temperature, and outdoor temperature from the comfort of your home or
office.
|
|
|
With
the Oregon Scientific RGR126 Wireless Rain Gauge,
you can monitor and display rainfall amounts plus indoor and outdoor
temperatures from the comfort of your home or office. The digits in the
RGR126 main unit's 4-line LCD panel are bold and almost half an inch tall
for easy viewing. Today's rainfall amount or rainfall history
(user-selectable) is shown in the top line of the LCD panel. The second
line shows total rainfall from the day and year you set. The third and
fourth lines display the outdoor temperature and indoor temperature,
respectively.

The
RGR126 Wireless Rain Gauge monitors and displays not only daily
and total rainfall amounts but also indoor and outdoor
temperatures. This weather instrument consists of three separate
units. One is the main (display) unit, which has an integral
indoor thermometer. The other two units are wireless remote
sensor/transmitters, one for rainfall and one for outdoor
temperature. The rainfall remote has an extended transmission
range of up to 328 feet. The main unit is conservatively styled in
gray, silver, and black to fit unobtrusively into almost any home
or office decor scheme.

Features
and Benefits:
- Rainfall and outdoor temperature data
are transmitted to the display station via 433 MHz radio signals.
- Long-range rainfall remote has a maximum
transmission range of 328 feet (100 meters) in open space with no
interference.
- Temperature remote has a maximum
transmission range of 98 feet (30 meters) in open space with no
interference.
- Main unit shows rainfall amounts in
inches or millimeters.
- Main unit shows indoor and outdoor
temperatures in °F or °C.
- Four-line LCD panel simultaneously
displays current day's rainfall (or daily total for any of the past 9
days), total rainfall since last reset, outdoor temperature, and
indoor temperature.
- Total rainfall record can be easily
reset at any time.
- Audible rainfall alarm can be set to
sound when rainfall reaches user-set amount.
- Main unit can be free-standing (with
removable table stand installed) or wall-mounted.
- PCR122 rainfall
remote can be free-standing or secured to a flat surface by screws.
- THN122N outdoor temperature remote hangs
on a wall or other vertical surface.
- Main unit provides individual
low-battery indications for itself and each remote.
- Main unit and PCR122
rainfall remote are each powered by
two AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries. THN122N outdoor temperature remote
is powered by two AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries. (If the THN122N
temperature remote will be used in sub-freezing conditions, lithium AA
batteries are recommended instead of alkaline.)

The RGR126 is
a full-featured wireless rain gauge. It has a 9-day rainfall memory, total
rainfall recall from user-set commencing date, a rainfall alarm, and an
extended rainfall data transmission/reception range of 328 feet (100
meters). The temperature data transmission range is 98 feet (30 meters).
Rainfall history is displayed digitally on a per-day basis. Please be
aware that the LCD panel on this unit is not backlit. The RGR126 main unit
is fairly compact at just over 5-1/2 inches tall by 3-1/2 inches wide. It
shows rainfall in inches or millimeters
and temperatures in °F
or °C.
The RGR126's temperature
resolution is 0.2°F (0.1°C), and rainfall resolution is 0.04 inch (1
mm). Maximum daily rainfall that can be displayed is 99.99 inches (2540
mm), and maximum total rainfall that can be displayed is 999.99 inches
(25,400 mm). To display daily rainfall history for 9 days and then return
to the current daily rainfall amount, you momentarily press the
front-panel HISTORY button a total of 10 times. You can display the
commencing date (month and day, and then year) of the total rainfall
record by momentarily pressing the SINCE button on the front panel twice.
This information appears in the top line in place of the daily or historic
rainfall amount. Pressing SINCE a third time returns the display to daily
or historic rainfall. To clear the total rainfall memory and reset the
commencing date to the current month, day, and year, you simply hold the
SINCE button depressed until the display resets. The total rainfall amount
will then equal the current daily amount.
The rainfall remote that comes
with the RGR126 is the PCR122, and the outdoor temperature remote is the
THN122N. These are non-displaying remotes. Both remotes transmit their
data to the display station
via 433 MHz radio signals. The PCR122
rainfall remote is conveniently self-emptying.
The RGR126
main unit and PCR122 rainfall remote are
each powered by two AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries, and the THN122N outdoor
temperature remote is powered by two AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries. All
six batteries are included. If you will be using the THN122N temperature
remote in sub-freezing conditions, we recommend using lithium AAA
batteries instead of alkaline. Lithium batteries retain power to about -40°F
(-40°C). Be sure to bring the PCR122
rainfall remote indoors when
temperatures drop below freezing.
The RGR126
main unit comes with a table stand
already attached. All you have to do is place the display station
in an appropriate location on a shelf,
desk, table, or other flat surface. The stand can be easily removed,
however, if you wish to hang the display station
on a wall. For best reception from the
remotes, be sure to pivot the antenna on the back of the main unit so that
it extends upward from the unit.
The PCR122
rainfall remote can simply be placed in
the desired location, or it can be secured to a horizontal surface with
screws. Metal leveling rings are included with the mounting hardware. The
THN122N temperature remote has a keyhole slot for wall mounting by means
of a small nail or screw.
If you're looking for a
long-range digital wireless rain gauge and indoor/outdoor thermometer with
lots of useful features (including a rainfall alarm) and a price that
won't break your budget, the RGR126 surely deserves your consideration.
