ET-73 Redi-Chek Wireless
Remote Smoker Thermometer |
|
The Maverick
ET-73 Redi-Chek® Wireless Remote Smoker Thermometer is a
programmable radio-frequency food thermometer and timer
specially designed for use in smokers. A remote sensor/transmitter
monitors the temperatures of both the meat and the smoking chamber and
transmits them up to 100 feet to the displaying receiver so that you can
view them from virtually anywhere in your home. Smoking meat, poultry, and fish properly can take a long time. Instead of going out to the smoker to check the temperature over and over,
just use the Redi-Chek ET-73. If the temperature of the smoking chamber drops too low or
rises too high, the receiver sounds an alert and its alarm icon and
probe temperatures flash. The alert also sounds and the icon and temperatures flash when the temperature of the meat being smoked exceeds
your preset food temperature. Because both smoker and meat temperatures are monitored, chances are your food will be smoked to perfection
every time. The ET-73 can also be used with an oven or grill while
baking or barbecuing, which means fewer trips to the kitchen or grill.

| The ET-73 Redi-Chek Remote Wireless Smoker Thermometer
from Maverick consists of two separate units. The wireless
sensor/transmitter has connections for two included stainless steel probes,
a food probe on a 36-inch wire and a smoker chamber probe on a
24-inch wire. The transmitter also has its own temperature
display that automatically alternates
between the food and smoking chamber temperatures. You place the
transmitter in a location near the smoker but away from direct
heat. The receiver simultaneously displays the food and smoking chamber
temperatures. It also has a countdown/count-up timer. You can
use the timer and temperature modes at the same time. This means
that you can monitor one food's cooking progress in the
temperature mode while using the timer mode to keep track of
another cooking task.

On the transmitter, the food
and smoker temperatures are displayed alternately in °F in digits about
7/16 inch tall. On the receiver, the food and smoker temperatures are
displayed simultaneously in your choice of °F or °C in digits about
9/16 inch tall. The receiver's LCD panel has a backlight for night
viewing.
The Redi-Chek ET-73 is easy to use. First, set up your smoker or grill.
Then plug the two probes into the transmitter. Insert the food probe into
the thickest part of the meat, and clip the smoking chamber probe onto
the rack in the chamber. Next, power up the receiver and, within 60
seconds, the transmitter so that registration occurs. On the receiver,
set the HI (maximum or target) food temperature to the value for the desired
doneness. As an example, we'll use 160°F. This temperature appears in
the receiver's food icon display line. Next, set the HI (maximum)
smoking chamber temperature. For this example, we'll use 250°F. This
temperature appears in the receiver's smoker icon display line. Then set the LO (minimum) smoker temperature
value. For this example, we'll use 225°F. Finally, turn on the temperature
alerts and set the timer for 2 hours. Clip the receiver onto your belt or pocket,
and move up to 100 feet away from the cooking chamber. Go indoors if desired. You are now remotely monitoring your food and
smoking chamber temperatures. The receiver beeps and flashes if your meat temperature goes above 160°F or the cooking chamber temperature exceeds
250°F or falls below 225°F. When the 2-hour time period expires, the receiver beeps and an icon flashes for 30 seconds.
The ET-73 transmitter and receiver are
each powered by two AAA (1.5V) batteries. All four batteries are
included
These batteries are carbon-zinc heavy duty
batteries, but when replacement becomes necessary, we recommend alkaline
batteries. The ET-73 is covered by a
manufacturer's 90-day limited warranty.
Cautions:
-
Do not use the stainless steel probes and wires in microwave ovens.
-
Do not use the probe sensors and wires above 410°F (210°C) because doing so will deteriorate the wire.
-
Do not expose either unit to direct heat or water.
-
Always wear a heat-resistant glove to touch the probes or wires during or after cooking.
-
Do not submerge the units in water. Clean them with a damp cloth instead.
-
Clean the food probe after each use, but do not submerge
it in water.
