Maverick CL-908 World Time Alarm Clock and Thermometer

The Maverick CL-908 World Time Alarm Clock and Thermometer is an elegantly styled desktop instrument that displays the time, day, date, month, and year for your own location and can also do this for 12 additional time zones worldwide. It also has an integral digital indoor thermometer, a 25-hour countdown timer, and a daily alarm. The case front and base are constructed of cast metal with a satin silver finish. The case back, which extends down and into the base, is plastic in a matching silver color and finish. Maverick calls the CL-908 a desktop clock because it doesn't take up much space, but it will also look great on a table or shelf in homes and offices alike.

Elegant contemporary styling and metal construction combine in the multifunctional and distinctive Maverick CL-908. In the timekeeping mode, the three circular LCD panels show (top to bottom) the time, the ambient temperature, and calendar information (year, day, month, and date). You can select either °F or °C for the temperature display and 12-hour or 24-hour as the displayed time format. Also, you can choose any of the 13 major cities indicated on the base of the clock to represent your home time zone. Once you set your home time and calendar data, you simply hold the body and rotate the base ring of the CL-908 to any of the other 12 cities to get time and calendar data for that city's time zone. Additional operating modes include the alarm mode (for setting alarm time) and countdown timer mode. Calendar information for the selected city/time zone is displayed in the bottom LCD panel in all modes.

The CL-908 is a highly accurate digital quartz clock (not an atomic clock). In 12-hour time format, AM or PM is displayed along with the time. Because the CL-908 does not include all time zones in its choices, we should tell you which time zones (indicated by major city) are available. You can select any one of them as your home time zone. The city choices are London, Paris, Moscow, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Wellington, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, and New York.

The alarm in the CL-908 is a single daily alarm, and the countdown timer can be set for up to 24:59:59 (hh:mm:ss). In the timer mode, the hours and minutes you set are displayed in the top LCD panel, and seconds are displayed in the middle LCD panel. Another thing you should know about the CL-908 is that in the timekeeping mode, 12:00 a.m. to 12:59 a.m. is displayed as 0:00 through 0:59 in both 12-hour and 24-hour time format. In case you were wondering, the digits in the top and middle LCD panels are just over 3/4 inch tall, so time and temperature (or countdown timer display) will be very easy to read for most people.

The CL-908 is powered by two AAA (1.5V) batteries. These are included and preinstalled. To power up the clock, you simply open the battery compartment and remove the insulating strip from one battery terminal.

A nice touch on the CL-908 is the rubber ring on the bottom of the base that prevents it from slipping and sliding around on your desktop. With lots of style and a most attractive price, the CL-908 is a real value. Naturally, it makes a perfect gift, but you'll probably want to get one for yourself, too. The CL-908 is covered by a 90-day manufacturer's limited warranty.
