Maverick CL-1604 Tube Alarm Clock/Flashlight

The Maverick CL-1604 Tube Alarm Clock/Flashlight is a compact digital quartz alarm clock with an integral LED torch flashlight. Use it at home, and take it with you when you're traveling so you won't have to wander around in the dark in unfamiliar places. The easy-to-read display is backlit in blue for viewing clock time and alarm time in the dark. Great for camping, the CL-1604 combines two real necessities--an alarm clock and a super-bright flashlight--into one mighty handy instrument!

The Maverick CL-1604 Tube Alarm Clock Flashlight is slim and streamlined with a semi-metallic silver finish. Its molded cylindrical case is 6-3/4 inches long by 1-1/8 inch in diameter. The LCD viewing area has a soft blue backlight and is 3-5/8 inches wide by 3/4 inch high. Clock time is displayed in bold digits 1/2 inch tall Alarm time is slightly smaller. A battery icon tells you how much charge is left so you won't be without a clock or flashlight due to battery failure.

The clock in the CL-1604 is a highly accurate digital quartz clock (not an atomic clock). You can select 12-hour or 24-hour time format by pressing a button in the battery compartment. Clock time is easily set by pulling out and rotating the knob on the right end of the clock upward and downward until the correct time is reached. During normal operation, pressing down on the top of the clock so that it rocks backward slightly lights the soft blue LCD panel backlight for 5 seconds.
The alarm time is set by pushing the knob on the right end of the clock in (to its normal position) and then rotating the knob upward or downward as you did for clock time with the knob pulled out. To turn on (enable) the alarm, you slide the switch on the back of the clock to SNZ. A snooze icon (Zz) and an alarm sound icon ((((.)))) appear next to the alarm time on the display to let you know the alarm is on. When the alarm time is reached, the alarm beeps for 1 minute. You can press the top of the clock to silence the alarm and activate the snooze function (and light the backlight for 5 seconds). After 5 minutes, the alarm sounds again. To turn off the alarm entirely, simply set the switch on the back to ALM OFF. You'll need to set it back to SNZ later on if you want the alarm to sound the next day.

To turn on the flashlight, simply pull out the knob on the left end of the clock. The super-bright white LED will light your path in a darkened walkway or room.

For powering, the CL-1604 requires four AAA (1.5V) batteries. These are included with the unit. To the left of clock time in the CL-1604's display is a battery icon that tells you how much power is left in the batteries. Four charge levels can be displayed: full, medium, low, and very low. The full charge icon indicates that clock and LED torch are operating in optimal battery condition. The medium icon indicates that clock and torch are operating in good condition. The low charge icon tells you that the display is getting dim and the clock may stop working, but the torch may still work. The very low icon indicates that the clock has stopped functioning and the torch may not work.

The CL-1604 is designed to rest horizontally on a flat surface such as a nightstand, desk, table, or shelf. If you're looking for a clock-flashlight combo that's compact, easy to use, and handsomely styled, chances are the Maverick CL-1604 Tube Alarm Clock Flashlight may be just what you need. Important: Do not use the clock in temperatures above 104°F (40°C) or below 23°F (-5°C). Also, do not use the clock where there are strong magnetic fields, such as near an unshielded loudspeaker. Replace the batteries every 12 months or when the clock stops working. Frequent use of the flashlight shortens battery life.
