La Crosse TX60U-SET,
NIST Traceable
Wireless Temperature Monitoring and Logging Set
|
|
This is our
specially selected, calibrated and certified version of the
La Crosse TX60U-SET. It is only available from us. You will receive a La Crosse TX60U-SET
that includes a serialized and calibrated temperature sensor, and a NIST
traceable
certificate of calibration that includes temperature accuracy data for
the included sensor (to save cost, the humidity function is not
calibrated). The calibration process is tailored to meet the
recommendations of the Center for Disease Control for use as a serum
storage thermometer. It also has applications in food storage
as well when temperature accuracy needs to be highly accurate, and/or certified as NIST traceable.
|
This system can:
-
This system can
automatically take and record temperature readings of your
refrigerators, freezers and storage cabinets.
-
Readings can be seen
online at your secure web account from anywhere, via a computer or
even a smart phone.
-
Readings are available for
download in spreadsheet format, ready to be filed.
-
This system can Email or
message you or your facilities staff if the temperature exceeds your
chosen set points before any spoilage occurs. The system can
notify up to three addresses.
-
This system can Email or
message you if temperature readings are no longer received.
-
This system is designed to
have multiple monitors in the system, with names you assign, no wondering which sensor your
display is actually reading as with some wireless systems.

The
La Crosse TX60U-SET
collects temperature and humidity data, and logs it (over your
always-connected Internet connection) to a high reliability server
provided by La Crosse Technology. You can collect data continuously
at intervals from 5 to 120 minutes without keeping a computer
running. You can read current data whenever you wish, from any Internet
connected computer anywhere in the world, or even from a smart
phone. You can also download historical data in spreadsheet format for
permanent records and easy-viewing.
The server can Email you a warning if data is not being received.
This level of service from the server is free. In addition, you can
log into your account on the server and configure the system to send up to
three people emails or text messages if the data exceeds limits that you
choose so that you have a
chance to fix the issue before your supplies are ruined.. This level of service from the
server is free for the first year, and available by subscription at a
modest cost after the first year.
If you need to keep
NIST traceable temperature records of refrigerator or freezer temperature, as is often the case in
the storage of medical supplies, and you have an always connected internet
connection, this device could save you a lot of
labor. Instead of having an employee visit every refrigerator at
least twice
a day and log readings, and then having someone audit the readings and
file the logs, you can just have a TX60U-SET periodically send readings to
the server automatically. Once a week or so, you can download
spreadsheet data and print off the
spreadsheet, or if you are proficient at spreadsheet programming, you can
produce graphs of temperature over time, and have temperature data change
color if the readings approach or exceed recommendations.

Our specially calibrated and
NIST traceable La Crosse TX60U-SET includes
a calibrated and documented TX-60U-IT wireless sensor with a waterproof probe, and a
Secure Weather Gateway. The calibrated TX-60U-IT sensor collects three pieces of
data, the temperature and humidity at the body of the sensor, and the
temperature at the end of the 6 foot detachable waterproof probe wire, if
you choose to plug it into the sensor. The temperature readings,
both at the body of the sensor and the end of the probe, are calibrated
and certified, the humidity reading is not. The sensor wirelessly sends
the data to the included gateway (and displays it on the sensor). The Gateway receives your temperature and humidity data, then
securely uploads it to your online Weather Direct account via an
Ethernet cable to your router (no
wireless network is required) and your always-on Internet connection. Additional
calibrated, NIST traceable sensors can be added using
the same gateway to monitor additional locations within the 200 foot range
of the wireless link. Additional gateways may also be used if you
need to reach farther than 200 feet (although the additional gateway will
need a network connection within 200 feet of the furthest sensor).
A number of configurations can
be configured with the sensor:
-
You can put the sensor on
the door of a refrigerator where the display can be easily seen, and
put the probe wire inside. In this case, you will be monitoring
the room temperature and the refrigerator temperature. If your
Internet connection goes out during a power failure, this allows
reading the temperature manually without opening the refrigerator
door.
-
If you have a
refrigerator/freezer, you can put the sensor inside the refrigerator
and the probe wire inside the freezer. Different set points can
be configured for the sensor temperature and the probe
temperature. Placing the sensor inside the refrigerator will
reduce the range capabilities between the sensor and your gateway.
-
If you have two
refrigerator/freezers next to each other, you can put the sensor
inside one, and run the probe to the other. Again, placing the
sensor inside the refrigerator will reduce the range capabilities
between the sensor and your gateway.
-
For critical applications,
it is possible to put the sensor inside the refrigerator, and insert
the probe into a bottle of glycerin of about the same capacity of your
stored supplies. This allows you to see if the refrigerator has
gone off of it's correct temperature and generate warning messages as
soon as possible, and separately see if the supplies have exceeded
their acceptable storage temperature. This is the best solution
as it warns you sooner, and gives you the most accurate data regarding
the temperature the supplies actually reached. Again,
placing the sensor inside the refrigerator will reduce the range
capabilities between the sensor and your gateway.
-
It is also possible to use
two sensors per refrigerator with the sensors placed outside the
refrigerator, and the probes inside. One probe would be bare, in
order to rapidly sense a refrigerator problem, the other would be in a
glycerin bottle, in order to best model the actual supplies.
This would allow reading of the displays from the face of the sensors
outside the refrigerator, and allow longer range to the gateway.
If your Internet connection goes out during a power failure, this
allows reading the temperatures manually without opening the
refrigerator door.
Notes for the network maintainer:
When you install the gateway, it must be
configured to your network in order to be able to reach the La Crosse
server. The easiest way to do this is to follow the included
instructions to browse to the Weather Direct web site with a browser
equipped Windows or Linux equipped PC, or Mac, that is on the same
network as the gateway. The Weather Direct web site will
automatically instruct your computer to contact the gateway, and
configure it to communicate directly with the La Crosse server.
Once that is done, the gateway can communicate directly with the La
Crosse server with no need for the PC.
The online configuration assumes that IP addresses
are allocated on your network using DHCP, and that Javascript and
cookies are not disabled on your PC. If this is not the case (sometimes the
case on more controlled business networks), then you can use the
downloadable application that finds the gateway and allows you to
manually see its MAC address and manually configure its communications
parameters. If you are on such a network, you probably have an IT
staff who can do this with ease.
Note: The CDC prefers that the certificate of
calibration includes the customer and invoice number. For that
reason, and because calibrations are time sensitive, all calibrations are
done after the order is received. In order to do the calibration,
the ship date could be up to 2 weeks after placement of the order.
