La Crosse Technology
WS-450W
Wireless Weather Station w/ Animated Display
|
|
The
La Crosse Technology WS-450W is a unique and feature-rich weather
station. The WS-450W provides an accurate and
reliable measurement of barometric pressure, weather forecast,
indoor/outdoor humidity, temperature, heat index, dew point and even
includes an integral atomic clock. All these great features are displayed
on the WS-450W's color display, which even has an adjustable backlight
that can adjust the display brightness in accordance to the surrounding
brightness that is detected by the integral light sensor.

|
|
Styled in gloss white,
the La Crosse WS-450W weather forecast station looks very clean and sleek.
The color display shows an image of sky and clouds overlapped by
animated graphs representing the respective indoor/outdoor
temperature and humidity. The WS-450W is 6-1/2 inches wide by
3-3/4 inches high,
and its display is 4 inches wide by 2-1/2 inches high.
|
|
|
|
On the upper right section of the
display, you
see one of four forecast icons: Clear, Partly Cloudy, Cloudy, or Rainy
(which predicts snow in cold weather). The forecast is based on barometric
pressure changes. To the left are the two color graphs displaying animated
bars representing the indoor or outdoor temperature and humidity as well
as trend indicator icons. Within the left graph the indoor or outdoor
temperature can be displayed as well as the heat index or dew point simply
by pressing a button on the front of the unit. Within the right graph the
indoor or outdoor humidity can be displayed.
The lower left portion of
the display can show either the current atomic time in minutes and
seconds, the current month and day, or the current day in three letter
form and the time can also be set manually for those who cannot receive
the atomic signal. The lower right of the display shows the barometric
pressure readings as well as trend indicator arrows.
The temperatures can be
displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius and has a measuring
range of 32°F to
122°F (0°C to 50°C) for indoor temperature and a range of -4°F to
140°F (-20°C to 60°C) for outdoor temperature, which can be read from
up to 246 feet away. The WS-450W comes with one TX-440-TH remote sensor
and can work with up to three of these sensors (sold separately). Minimum
and maximum indoor/outdoor temperature, heat index, dew point, and
humidity readings can be recorded using the WS-450W's internal MIN/MAX
memory.

Note:
This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or Radio Controlled clocks receive
a radio signal to set themselves. Like any radio receiver however, they may not
be able to receive the signal if they are in a building with a lot of steel in
the structure, near computers or other electrical equipment that may generate
interference, or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not
propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock.
These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the
middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately for
days until they can catch another signal. When you first put in the batteries,
they will most likely not set themselves until the middle of the night. That's
normal. By morning, weather permitting, it should be correct. Under less than
ideal conditions, it could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may
not be made the first night if location and weather are not favorable.

We can handle large orders
for nearly anything we have by special order, and quantity
discounts are available.
For quantities of 10 or more, or if you want more than we have in stock, please
email us at sales@partshelf.com,
we'll get back to you with price and availability. We cannot do this over
the phone as it takes time to investigate each situation.
If there is no order button, most likely there are
availability problems. We expect to be out of stock for more than a few days.
If the shopping cart page indicates that there are no units available, then we are temporarily out of stock. The item should be available in a day or two. To avoid disappointment, our
inventory control system prevents us from taking an order for something we don't have on the shelf.
