08856 Humidity Gauge

The Acu-Rite
08856 Humidity Gauge is an indoor hygrometer that rests on a
desktop, table, shelf, or countertop. This dial-type analog instrument
indicates both the relative humidity in percent and the corresponding
comfort range: Very Dry, Dry, Normal, or Humid. Use the 08856 in your
home, office, greenhouse, or any other indoor
location where you want to know the humidity at a glance.

The Acu-Rite
08856 Indoor Desktop Humidity Gauge has a stainless steel case
with a lightly brushed finish and an integral base. The white dial is
2-1/2 inches in diameter
and protected by a glass lens. The numbers (at 10% intervals) and
hash marks (at 1% intervals) on the dial are black, and the pointer is red. This
hygrometer indicates relative humidity from 0 to 100 percent
along with the comfort range for the humidity reading. |

The 08856 desktop hygrometer
is preset and needs no calibration. All that it requires before use is
an initial "moisture charge." You simply place the instrument
on its back on a warm, wet cloth and leave it for several minutes. Be
sure that the pointer moves above 80%. If the hygrometer becomes
inaccurate over time, simply perform another moisture charge. It
is the nature of humidity meters like the 08856 to respond slowly, so it
takes time to produce an accurate reading. For maximum accuracy, do not
locate the 08856 near an air conditioner, heat register, vaporizer,
fireplace, or anything else that can affect humidity. According to the
product's package, "normal" winter readings should range from
30% to 35%. The 08856
Desktop Humidity Gauge is designed for free-standing use only. It cannot
be wall-mounted. The 08856 is covered by a manufacturer's 1-year limited warranty.
