Need a really small and easy-to-use cooking thermometer that you can use at home and take to barbeques or on camping trips? If so, please check out the Acu-Rite 00709 NSF Certified Steak Thermometer. A part of Acu-Rite's Barbecue Essentials line, the 00709 is optimized both size-wise and by its dial indications for cooking steaks, chops, and similar cuts of meat. The 00709 is designed for use in conventional ovens and in barbecue grills. This is a thermometer that you leave in the meat while cooking and check periodically for the desired doneness.

The Acu-Rite 00709 Steak Thermometer lets you check the internal temperature of cooked meats. And just because it's called a steak thermometer doesn't mean you can't use the 00709 for other meats. Check out the USDA recommended internal meat temperature chart on the package, and you'll see how versatile this little cooking thermometer really is. Designed for use in conventional ovens and barbeque grills, the 00709 is the type of thermometer you leave in the meat while cooking. The 00709 is constructed of durable stainless steel with a shatter-proof crystal over the dial.

The Acu-Rite 00709 lets you safely check the internal temperature of steaks and a variety of other meats as they cook. The dial indications on the 00709 are 145°F MEDIUM RARE, 160°F MEDIUM, and 170°F WELL. These are the USDA recommended internal temperatures for fresh beef and also fresh lamb. But because 160°F and 170°F are USDA recommended internal temperatures for specific levels of doneness of fresh veal, fresh pork, ground meat and poultry (including patties), and more, the 00709 is an extremely versatile little cooking accessory. On the back of the 00709's package is a chart that indicates the USDA recommended internal temperatures for a wide variety of meats. You'll be surprised at how many kinds of meat the 00709 can help you cook to the proper temperature.

Because the stem (probe) of the 00709 is only 1-1/2 inches long, this thermometer is not suitable for use in large, thick cuts of meat (such as some roasts) or in meat and poultry loaves. For these meats, use a cooking thermometer with a longer probe that will reach the center of the meat.

Since the 00709 is so inexpensive, you'll want to order one for each piece of meat on the grill. This way, you can cook to perfection for each of your family members and guests.

Please Note: This thermometer should never be used in microwave ovens. Also, the 00709 should never be submerged or soaked and is not dishwasher-safe. To clean it, you simply wash the probe in hot, soapy water. To prevent cross-contamination, it's a good idea to wash the probe after each insertion.
