Acu-Rite 00661 Soil Thermometer The Acu-Rite 00661 Soil Thermometer is a compact, portable instrument for measuring the temperature of soil. You simply insert the thermometer's probe at least 2 inches into the soil, leave it there for at least 1 minute, and then read the temperature in °F on the round dial. You'll appreciate the 00661 thermometer's wide measuring range and its calibration capability. Use the 00661 in your home, greenhouse, garden, and in other indoor and outdoor applications where accurate measurement of soil temperature is necessary. Please click for a larger picture   The Acu-Rite 00661 Soil Thermometer has a 7-inch stainless steel probe and a stainless steel case. The white dial is 1-3/4 inches in diameter and protected by a shatterproof plastic lens. The numbers and markings on the dial are black, and the pointer is red. This thermometer indicates soil temperatures in °F. The measuring range of the 00661 Soil Thermometer is a generous 0°F to +220°F. The numbers on the dial are at 20° intervals, and the hash marks between them are at 2° intervals. To ensure maximum accuracy, the 00661 thermometer can be quickly and easily calibrated. You simply immerse the probe in a a liquid of known temperature for at least 30 seconds, grip the adjusting nut with a small wrench, and rotate the thermometer to display the correct reading. Water with lots of ice in it works well for this because you know it's 32°F. Included with the Acu-Rite 00661 Soil Thermometer is a handy plastic sheath with pocket clip for transportation and storage. The 00661 is covered by a manufacturer's 1-year limited warranty.
