Purchases and Ugly Box Discount areas before you leave! Atomic Travel Clock| Atomic travel alarms have two requirements to be included here. First, they must be atomic, that is, they receive WWVB radio transmissions containing highly accurate timing information and set themselves. Second, they must be small enough to take with while traveling. There are other issues you may wish to consider:
Most of these atomic travel alarm clocks only receive WWVB transmissions, which mean they only set themselves when you are in the U.S., part of south central Canada and Northern Mexico. A few of them can receive transmissions used in other countries.
Some of the smallest travel alarms use watch type
batteries to save space and weight. That's great, until your batteries die
while you're on the road and you don't know where to go for replacements.
You may want to look for a clock with either a
protective cover or some type of button lock so buttons don't get pushed while
in your luggage.
For limitations of atomic clocks in general,
please see the bottom of the page.

 | La Crosse Technology WT-2165U Digital Atomic Travel Alarm Clock The La Crosse Technology WT-2165U Digital Atomic Travel Alarm Clock is a basic model that displays the time in hours and minutes. It also displays your choice of calendar information or seconds and has dual daily alarms with programmable snooze duration. Regular price: $29.95 Sale price: $16.69, 2/$25.49 | | Pearl ERC130 Digital Atomic Alarm Clock with Temperature The ERC130 is a radio controlled digital alarm clock, with date and day of the week, that also tells the indoor temperature. The ERC130 is relatively compact, displaying hours and minutes in 1/2 inch digits. Seconds digits, date, day of the week and indoor temperature are displayed in digits of about 1/4 inch. The display of the ERC130 includes a signal strength bar graph indicating the WWVB signal strength present at the time of reception. As long as the display indicates adequate signal strength, you can expect this radio controlled clock to remain accurate to within a fraction of a second. Regular price: $8.95 Sale price: $5.49, 2/$10.00, 5/$22.50, 10/$40.00 | |
Please note.
The signal they receive does not propagate well during the
day. That's the nature of the signal, not the clock. These
clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can, generally in the
middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run quite accurately
for days until they can catch another signal. When
you first put in the batteries, they will most likely not set themselves
until the middle of the night. The analog clocks generally tick for
a few seconds, advance to 4:00, and wait. The digitals display
various things while they wait. That's normal. By morning,
weather permitting, it
should be correct.
